Does anyone observe the same phenomenon as I do? Usually after water change, the skimmer will skim too much. I am using Coralife salt, and I change 2 pails (10%) weekly, and I am using DI water. I usually have to tune down the air intake juz after water change. And the increased skimming is before I put in any additives.

Another question: I am using coralife salt now. Any benefit to using the more premium salts that are no the market? There's Eco-Bact and another one that I have forgotten the name.

Eco-Bat? The ones with Alien logo is it? Have not use it before.

I am using a H&S. Its true skimming increase after each water change. I observed that too. Below are a short summary of all salt that I have used before.

Coral life

Cheap salt to use. Good solubility and clears up fast. However, I did not measure the parameters (Ca, Kh, Mg etc).

Coral Marine (Aquacraft USA)

Bad solubility and takes a long time to clear. Have not measure any parameter.

Kent Marine

Good solubility and clear fast. No measurement taken either.

My final choice is still coral life base on the price and soluibilty. This is also my second bucket! I does trace element weekly and dose Iodine daily too.

Have a couple of questions:

1. My timer for my 250W MH seems to have problem. It is not cutting out. I am using one of those Hager panal mounted timers, which is a mechanical type. For 250W, is it advisable to switch on using a relay or should the timer be sufficient?

2. I thought of adding another stream to my tank. Already run 1x6000 and can't decide whether I should put in another 6000 or 6100. What is the price differential anyway?

Just pulled out my eggcrate on Saturday. A thoroughly body aching experience. Still not very satisfied with the current rockscape, but I have some brown algae blooms. (is it because I disturbed the DSB too much). Hope to let the tank stabilize before I do more adjustments.

The unfortunate thing is that I have yet to see my clown today. The only thing is that he was swimming where I was dosing phyto yesterday. Can it be my phyto had ammonia/nitrite and he got poisoned?

I felt impulsive today, I thought I decided to get another 6100, or maybe not. For that amount of money, can get many 6060/6080....still undecided.

Another thing is that I unwittingly fragged my red monti due to a falling milli. Gheez.....

Maybe ur clown is hiding due to stress after the landscape. Try obeserving it at night.

Another question:

How long can a SPS colony be kept in a bag before it is placed into the tank?

Last friday, I bought, and I went for dinner. Placed into the tank about 4 hours later. Anyway, this colony totally RTN :cry2::cry2::cry2:

I think it may be due to oxygen deficiency, becos when I opened the bag, the acro crabs already up the lorry. Gheez. Painful lesson. Another case of impatience, I should have just waited till Saturday to buy them. Really spoilt my weekend.

Can I conclude that the lesson learnt is: Buy SPS must immediately chiong home to put into the tank? Totally sianz.... :paiseh:

Another addition. Hopefully the colour can stay. :( Time will tell.

Anyway, fragged and put in another buddies' tank to increase the chances.

Is that a blue mille?

Been looking for those for quite some time. PM me where you got it k?

And remember to feed your anthias, they'll be the main attraction

New addition and a new commitment.

Anthias - blue eye one. Question: Must feed twice a day everyday? Or if some days miss ok?

feed twice a day, provided they eat wat u feed.

miss some days...will result in the fish missing too.... :pinch:

make sure your exisitng tang dun snatch away their food...
