Hi..

I am curious to find out how huge marine tanks are maintained. When i mean huge i mean those like public tanks.. at least 1000+ gallons type.

= Do they use super huge commercial skimmer, CA, KR, FR, etc.

= How they maintain a balanced water parameters? dose additives weekly? can't be..

= Do they change water every few months.. that's awful lot of water change for those size of tanks..

CHEERS!

What about the one at Wisma Atria? Who maintains them and how?:P:)

theirs is a fowlr only tank right .. the last time i saw that tank i don't remember seeing much coral there. I guess public tank without corals are practical cos' less maintenance and caring needed

Sentosa underwaterworld has one with quite alot of sps inside..Thats the one and only one that is solid.

I think we are referring to the same tank that i saw when i was in Sentosa the last time.. that tank get me wondering how do they maintain it and was thinking the equipment behind supporting that tank must be ... err ... as one reefer would put it .. "Power" ..

aiyah public aquariums got full-time staff, not so difficult to maintain as it sounds. imagine if we didn't need to work, can spend our time on our tanks everyday as a job, sure can maintain a big one too! ;)

my bro just came back from houston.

he visited an aquarium over there and was blown away by its huge display tank.

he asked how is maintenance done (galss cleaning etc). they have full-time staff that'll dive in to clean glass.

he asked whether the tank is lit by sunlight.

nope, artificial lighting (probably high wattage mh) that'll blind everyone that looks into it... stupid idiot did not take pics of the tank....

i have a friend who works as a diver at underwaterworld.

she says that she's more afraid of the giant garoupas than the sharks :D

just hide in cave and "suck" their prey into their huge mouths
