:D Hi check your ground or so call (earth) work & cable. if possiblie use other power point to on the chiller

if u encounter this problem only when u on the chiller & u don't encouter this when the chiller is off than mostlikly the chiller fan motor, pcb or compressor is shorted so pls don't use it anymore.

Do take note that if the earth leakage is huge your entire house ELCB might trip.

Hope the above trouble shoothing helps.

Cheers.

bro, dipping cable directly into ur marine tank is a BIG NO NO  ..

Copper is extremely toxic to most marine creatures even if it present in minute amount. Pull it out immediately, use a titanium grounding probe instead.

What is titanium grounding probe ..? do you have a pic or web to see it ... ? How about if I use steel wire ...? any toxic..? Thank's

Using a ground probe is the last resort. If you just got the chiller, return the chiller to the supplier and get a new one. A new chiller is not supposed to cause any leaky current. You have a time bomb there.....that is, assuming the leaky current comes from the chiller.

On the other hand, it could have been caused by the pump that pumps the water into the chiller. Happened to me once with some cheapo pump.

I agree with iceman & patrick123. It may not be the chiller, especially since it's brand new, chances of it screwing up are quite low.

I would check all the pumps/powerheads in your tank for current leakage. I have a friend whose ehiem pump was leaking current and when he used a test-pen and dipped it in the water, it lighted up! :pinch:

Try to find out the source of the current and solve the problem asap.

Electricity + water = Disaster waiting to happen. :erm:

I have tried to put off the power head one by one and finally find the electric current is from the chiller ....and i have tried to start the chiller at my friend house and no electric current ..i use test pen too at the water ....

This is how the titanium probe looks like.. the other end will be connected to the earth wire of a 3 pin plug. This will enable the leaking current to be channel out through the earth. More than the required current will cause a trip in your circuit breaker. (Anyone can correct me?).However, this is only a temp solution. Best to find the source of the leakage. Never undermined the damage of water and electricity can do..Safety First.

This probe i bought for $30 is from Sea life at 240 Balestia road. Ask for the titanium probe, i think they have also the stainless steel one. If it is too ex, i came across in the forum to DIY one. (Too troublesome for me..)

SAFETY FIRST!!!!

Now the current problem has gone when I attach one cable to the chiller body and attach to nail to wall ...i test with the test pen so no current now ....so i think is a grounding problem not the leakage ....because when i brought my chiller to my friend house to test has no current at his tank ...

Hi all, i also have this problem of current leakage.

when i touch the surface of my tank water, there is slight current.

i isolated the problem to the chiller because when the chiller is plugged into that socket there is current leak but when unplug no problem.

i feel like getting the titanium probe but think it is not a long term

solution. btw just got the CL650 from a fellow reefer on friday night.

any advice bros ?? thx
