SRC Member Copperband Posted April 30, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 30, 2007 Not sure if it is relevent or not... My tank with NSW and running skimmerless for 4 months....Lots of changes since then..,,...
SRC Member aquavista99 Posted May 1, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted May 1, 2007 I have gone without a skimmer for a while with good success, but prefer skimmers. Others have had great success with SPS going the skimmerless route. It is just a personal preference in my opinion.

SRC Member neokn Posted November 25, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 25, 2007 Look carefully at the picture. Neither does he have any filter media nor macro algae. LS as shown int the picture. He have 3 blue tang, 2 yellow tang, 1 flame angel, 1 clown n 2 unknown. But he has 3 clams. 1 of them @ least a 12" big.
SRC Member Angel Posted November 26, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2007 It can be done without a skimmer but must follow a very strict workflow of doing partial water changes every week regularly. If you cant do this on a weekly basis then the water parameters will change and affects the sps.
SRC Member Copperband Posted November 26, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2007 Thats one very nice tank.... I believe his waterchange will be heavy.... As for me i am now running a macro skimmer... and lots of carbon to get away with slightly lesser water change....

SRC Member neokn Posted November 26, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2007 http://haaga.aqua-web.org/That guy has been without a skimmer for two years. I emailed him recently asking how the tank was doing. He says it's still doing very well, and he plans on updating the website soon. cjh: Link wasn't posted by me but from another reefer. s1214215
Check out this thread. The tank owner kept this skimmerless reef running for several years with infrequent water changes before shutting it down - not due to problems. He is setting up a new system. http://www.masa.asn.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...d57d1fb67ac451f Brett
