I used to have that Nature Ocean black sand in my nano....

Cons:

too fine...... cannot siphon => detritus gets buid up very very easily and difficult to siphon off.

not "black enough" more like grey

get sandstorm easily

get compacted easily. need to stir often even though I have nassarius snails and sand dollars

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

me too.. but it isn't black.. it's more.. BROWN.. :P CaribSea is REALLY black.

Hmmm... From the photo online, it looks black leh.. Hehe...

CaribSea Hawaiian black is very big grain... Average biggest grain is 3mm..

CaribSea Indo black sand is mixture of white and black sand...

So still consider which to get...

Well the only positive is that I think the bacteria count in the sand was really very good...

not sure if Iwarna still sells black volcanic sand.. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74544

but if you're looking for intense black,

this should be the most intense of all the black sands i've come across so far..

But this needs to be replaced every 2 years... Very troublesome... I might try mixing two different black sand together... CaribSea Hawaiian and Nature;s Ocean Live black sand...

CaribSea actually have Tahitian Moon Sand but not livesand and not found in Singapore.

Hi, currently I am using both CaribSea Haiwaiian and Nature's Ocean live black sands.

I pour in the Nature's Ocean one first as it is finer than the CaribSea.

So far so good, alot of dirt you can't see as the sands is BLACK!:eyeblur:

CaribSea from IWarna; Nature's Ocean from AM.

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

hey terryz I love the taihitian moon sand also.. :( so sad nobody brings that in... ordering online is so damn expensive cause of the freight... but I like the carib sea black sand.. black vs nature's ocean brownish grey color. lol ketchup and I ended up pushing the nature's ocean to the center and pouring the Carib sea to the sides and the top so that it looks black rather than brown!

Cheers, ;)

Okay.. I think will buy a mixture of two sands then...

What is the ration you use?

Thanks for the feedback...
