zico
Latest DT. Zoas "tree" on the right... mostly from reefers. The left side is still quite bare at the moment.... still wondering what corals to fill it with. SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted May 29, 2012 SRC Supporter Share Posted May 29, 2012 Let the frag on your rock grow and you should have a nice reef tank very soon. By the way, i love the interesting concept on your refugium, it will save us alot of trouble opening up the cabinet each time to check . zico
Some new changes. 1. added PO4 FR and biopellets FR in the sump. 2. Water flow to FRs are channelled via a T-off from the Eheim that is also sending the water to the chiller. It goes like this. Eheim pump in sump ==> chiller ===> main tank. Eheim pump in sump has a T off ==> PO 4 FR ==> biopellets FR ==> flow back into sump close to skimmer intake. So in summary. I have a wAter pump that powers 2 FRs and chiller. zico
Thank you. Am quite satisfied so far with the progress but its only 2 months since setup. Taking baby steps here. Some zoas not doing great... no thanks to some hair algaes sharing the same plug, preventing the zoas from opening or spreading. Tried manually removing the hairs but read in the forum pp using hydrogen peroxide... will perhaps try that... or any other methods to remove these troublesome hair algae? zico
What a nice feeling to have a sump, =( Haa, ya man... my prev tank is a RSM which didnt have a sump. With this tank, I ve a sump which I made full use of... There are ==> 2 FRs (RowaPhos + Biopellets) and ==> an effective refugium with 4 competing macroalgaes in there (chaeto, Jap grapes from JasonPoh, red macro and caulerpa). Currently the beast in the macro-algae war is the Jap grapes with caulerpa a close second. Both of them are creeping all over. Chaeto and red macroalgae not growing much in there, losing out. Releasing them together at one go would be the best way to prevent any serious squabbling. Hopefully they will be at work right away for your hair algea. Do note that you need to force them to take the algea by not feeding them with other more palatable food, else they would simply ignore the algea and go for other food. Wheather or not they would tackle your current algea type is a matter of hit or miss, not all YT will be alike. But sailfin would have a better chance, as i have explained to you earlier. Cheers Quote Treat others the way you wanna be treated...
mengyang_neo
Yup what Dr Ang said is correct, if u feed them then they will prefer ready food rather then aglae. The next option will be sea hare but remember to pass to other people or LFS when there is no more hair aglae cause it will die when there is not enough food.
