Calling all SPS reefers...

Hi Reefers

With reference to last thread on SPS Survey, was wondering whether those guys with keen interest in SPS or are already into SPS keeping would maybe post some details of their reef setup, Wattage of MHs, Equipment etc of course if possible some pictures of their reef.

=====================================================

Recommended format would be like

1)Reef size (dimensions in inches)

2)No. of MH. Type and Wattage

3)DSB, Phleum, Denitrator or non

4)Sump ( whether you have a incorporated Refugium / Filter Media / DSB)

5)Skimmer (Brand and Model)

6)Calcium Reactor (Brand and Model)

7)PH levels

8)Alk levels

9)Calcium levels

10)Chiller (HP and Brand)

11)Total System (Water exchange/circulation rate per hour)

Additional Comments :

=====================================================

Maybe and if AT is Ok with it, could even start a SPS section where reefers crazy over SPS can always tune in to for information…

It would be a excellent place for reference, posting pictures of recently aquired SPS, problems encountered, frag trades and update of new developments in SPS keeping.

The reason : simply to promote SPS keeping so more reefers could get involved and learn ropes and methods that will grant them success …. Indirectly affecting local reefers abilities to sustain them and most importantly justifying the demand for more SPS in LFS or Bulk ordering from overseas…..

Or where else you gonna get those colourful Acros??????

What say you guys ????

1) It all depend on how deep your tank is

2) the height of the light above the surface of the water

3) the placement of the sps from the light

Low wattage MH and you try to get them as close to the sps as physically possible without getting electrocuted.

With 150W MH, would it be possible to place the SPS close to the water surface ? will the acros colour up ?

Morgan about to ask you same question as mv3i

It depend on how many 150W MH you are using over the area. If you squeeze 3 150W into a 3' tank then acros will thrived.

As for colours, it all depend on the acros you have.

Think green will retain their colour better. Blues may fade.
