My 120 gallon SPS dominated tank.

Hi, my name is Richard. I hope you all don't mind some people from the US to join in here. I currently have 3 tanks. 120 gallon SPS tank, 54 gallon LPS/softy tank, and a 40 gallon coral propagation tank.

The 120 is my pride and joy. I started it about 4 years ago, but recently tore it down and redid it. The pictures below are the tank yesterday. It was redone on July 19, 2003.

The tank is 48"X24"X24". I have a 30 gallon sump with Euro-Reef CS8-2 skimmer, a do-it-yourself dual chamber calcium reactor, a 1/4 HP chiller, 2 400 watt metal halides 20K, 1 250 watt metal halide 10K, and 2 110 watt VHO actinic bulbs. The tank can be viewed from 3 sides. It acts as a room divider in my home.

Hi Richard,

Nice tank you got there - some really nice colored stuff.

My up and coming tank will be 3 side viewable like yours and will also have a stream on the visible short side. It really sticks out when viewed from the end! :( Any ideas how to hide it better?

Hi Pikey!!

A warm welcome to SRC!!

We have had visitors from all over the world... surprisingly for a local club that's has very localized content for a small country like Singapore.

I hope you'll be able to understand our local slang (its called Singlish - a mish-mash of english and local dialects of malay, mandarin & hokkien which is a local chinese dialect) which we are quite comfortable to use even if we can speak and write perfect english. :)

Thanks for sharing your tank with us... if only we could do some frag exchange! LOL!! You US guys seem to get the better specimens of SPS corals! *envy*

See u around!

Thanks for all the welcomes and kind words.

Yes, it is a lot of work keeping up 3 tanks, but worth the effort.

I wish I knew a way to hide that ugly Tunze Stream, but as you can see...I don't.

Zoos...I seem to always be looking for new zoos...they are just so colorful and great to fill in the empty spaces.

Frag trade...FedEx overnight shipping can't be that bad to Singapore, can it?...hahaha.

I'm inspired with your tank.

I have the same 3 view tank and find it really hard to aquascape.

May I know your tank dimension.

My Tank is 60" x 24" x 24".

Zephyros

I was busy wiping my saliva while viewing the photos that I forgot to read the post.

Nah! I just wanted to ensure that it is really 24".

Well, I guess I have to do another back breaking landscaping work. Again!

Wow, thanks again for all the kind words. I will get some pictures of my other tanks posted tonight.

As far as maintenance goes:

All of my tanks are controlled with Neptune Systems Aquacontrollers. These take care of heating, cooling, turning lights on and off, etc. The only maintenance that I have to do is:

feed fish, add top off water for evaporation, 10%-15% water changes every 4-6 weeks (I base this on nitrate levels), scrub algae off the glass, clean protein skimmer collection cups, make sure that calcium reactors are full of media and effluent is dripping properly. Change out carbon when I do water changes (I run carbon 24/7 in my sumps). Every 6 months of so I remove all my pumps and give them a good cleaning. Once a year I completely clean my protein skimmers, and calcium reactors. I find that everything works better when they do not have all the calcium buildup on the impellars. I change my MH bulbs out every 10 months and my VHO actinics once a year.

It sounds like a lot when you spell it out, but it really doesn't seem like I do much maintenance at all. I just do a little everyday so things don't build up for me to do.

Good schedule you have there... :)

Anyway, if you top up water manually, may I suggest the Tubby aka the top up box designed by one of our fellow reefer which is also a sponsor in the sponsors' sector... :)

Have been using it and dun have to manually top up for regular periods except to occasionally fill up the reservoir with water and it lasts for weeks... :)

Sis Flub...

You are not kapoh... just very kind hearted and willing to go the extra mile to help others.... You will be Blessed....

btw... when you travel stateside the next time.. can I trouble you to hand carry back some corals...??? not to heavy... maybe 5~10kg worth...:bow::thanks:

Sorry for the delay, but I have actually been building a stand for yet another tank today. I am replacing my 54 gallon corner bowfront tank with a 92 gallon corner bowfront tank. I will include pictures of it also.

Here is my 40 gallon propagation tank.

This is it with livestock inside.

This is the 54 gallon tank. It is an older picture but basically looks the same.

Here is the 92 gallon tank that will replace the 54 gallon. I finished the stand today. I should be able to do the swap in about 2 weeks.

P.S. I also have 2 Koi ponds in my yard. My smaller one is about 1300 gallons.

And the larger one is about 3500 gallons. I just finished it in November...still have a lot of landscaping to do, and I am building a deck on one side with benches, etc.

As you can probably tell, I love fish.

flubberina13 - do you have pictures of the Tubby you are talking about? And a description of how it works. Thanks.
