finally solved the algae/cyno issues...lost an entire colony of german blue digi to it:-(

anyway for me i just everyday suck out the algae and add more rowaphos. did not even change water or add bacteria. disappeared after 2weeks from the time i started. oh and of course controlled feeding too. funny how the algae/cyno disappear right after my exams... disrupted my revision:-(

anyway growth updates... jade green digi from uncle mike... finally encrusting after 4 mths...

Finally stopped assuming my water paras...

No3:1-2.5

Po4:0.00?(why is diatoms still growing?)

Measured by salifert test kit

(Anything i can do to up the phosphate levels? Suspect i have been controlling my feeding abit too tightly)

Now time for me to start guessing why 2 colonies of my wild spses died while most(if not all) of my frags from other reefers tanks have survived and is growing. Hmm...

Wild sps are harder to adapt in tank compare to tank raised frags. As for big colony sps, ur lighting must be good if not ur light will not able to reach the colony. Innerside of sps will slowly weaken n dies off. And of course having good aclimatization.

It's possible that whatever phosphate and nitrate your tank generates all goes to fueling the diatoms. So nothing is left to reach the test kit...

Normally tips of sps will bleach first b4 pe stops and the centre of colony dies, so not sure what is happening. Can enlighten?

Any accurate way to test po4 and no3? I usually need to scrape of diatoms from tank glass abt once a week.
