As a kid i'm always fascinated by marine life, but keeping marine life is almost impossible as due to monies issue unless you have lots of love (pocket money) from your parents.

After completing NS and stepping into the working society, but chance i saw one of my buddy (Jowenteo) keeping a reef tank using IQ7 and that's where it sparks of my thoughts of setting a piece of ocean for myself.

It all started with a 1.5 feet five plan plastic tank that i purchase from 328 with DIY IOS with help from my buddy once again.

After keeping this mini 1.5 feet DIY tank for about 2 years with the ability to sustain the fishes and some zoas, i decided to upgrade to a bigger tank.

But chance i spotted a reefer selling his 3 x 2 x 2 tank at a nominal price, i told myself what am i waiting for?

Straight away i contacted the very friendly and helpful reefer for this tank and drove my dad lorry down on the following day to collect my new toy.

This reefer which i cannot recall his nick, even went to the extend of helping me carry down the tank to my dad lorry.

This 3 x 2 x 2 tank is really a beast with 12mm glass thickness. It will literally break anyone's back if you did not handle it with care.

With the help of 2 other friends, i manage to get this beast up and below is how it became after a couple of months.

post-17481-0-98184600-1359983266_thumb.j

But due to work and school commitment, i totally neglected this tank and its infested with lots and lots of hair algae, aiptasia, slime algae and many other types of pest algae which you named it i have it.

It's really a task that i don't really fancy wish makes me kudos to those reefer out there with tank height of more than 2 feet.

After much consideration, i decided to start a new tank as the current one seems a bit too hard for me to salvage with all the pest and also to build something which is easier for me to maintain.

Once i have decided on the equipment i wanted, i head begin to search for quotation for the tank i wanted which is 2 x 2 x 1.5.
After consideration from a few maker, i choosen CR to make my tank with 3 side crystal glass which will be coming in on March due to the chinese new year period.
In order to end all the pest issue, i begin killing off my live rock and make it ultra clean by bleaching it.

Once the bleaching process complete, i will air dry and sun bake the rock before soaking it in RO/DI water before cooking it to make it live once again.
I'm sure this process will give me really clean rock.
Shall update once again

Why dont you just purchase those dead rock (already in white colour). Cheaper in cost. Just a suggestion.

Erm i ever thought of that but just thinking of giving a try after doing so much reading and research online.

Previously i spend a couple of hundred on LR alone so thinking might as well save up on this side and also as a experimental trail run.

Anyway your suggestion is a good one as well, but there's a saying curiosity kills the cat and i fits in that bill :eyebrow: .

Guess they are ready for 3 days worth of fresh water soak before sun baking.

All nuisance algae and aiptasia should be in heaven now.

That's what I did when i have aiptasia problem 5/6 years ago. After sun dry, you can try to soak it with anti-chlorine water to neutralize any remainding bleach. ;)

While eagerly awaiting my new tank to arrive on 2nd March, my shopping spree just continued.

Finally decided on the skimmer and just got a Bubble Magus Nac 5.5 as the main "cleaning agent" for my tank.

Also gotten 2 pack of Caribbean Sea Indo Pacific Black live sand as my substrate top up with a small pail of A.R.M aragonite media for the boast of calcium on my display tank.

For scaping wise, i have also purchased one big bag of dead rock to get myself all ready.

Reason for using dead rock is that i have the ability to choose what i want in my tank and not getting constant shock of seeing crabs, sponge or even bristle worm.

More or less in terms of equipment i'm all set just have to wait for my tank to come and all the setup will begin.

why dont rotate the sump so that the return piping dont have to go thought so many bends resulting in more headloss?

You got a point there bro. Never really consider on that.

Anyway thanks for your valuable advise, too late to change already now tank already waiting for silicon to dry haha.
