Dreams
Hey guys, just wanted to ask if its possible to make my own ro/dl water at home without any equipment? heard 1 guy said just use tap water and on a air pump and let it pump for 1 night and the chlorine will disappear. Is that possible? Going to do a WC for my tank soon, as my cycling process is almost done..

SRC Member liquidnoise Posted August 14, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted August 14, 2013 firstly, do you have a skimmer? which i think shd be the basic. next do you have test kits? if not how can you tell the water parameter? if you wanna test your water bring maybe 100ml of your tank water to my house. i help u test. dun rush tru the process, easy to say as i understand hw u feel. but at least make sure ur water is ok. did u use MP or BB kick starter solution? if you use them the process goes sumthing like tis. Ammonia - NO2 - NO3 - spike - down to maybe 50 den u know u need to do WC. then wait for mayb 1 wk den test if the water is like 0-25. u are ready. hope this helps...btw, sames goes to FW also

SRC Member angmoh Posted August 14, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted August 14, 2013 anyway, RO/DI is not just to remove chlorine that simple. It involves many water purification stages to create pure H2O aka water. The benefits of using RO/DI water is zero introduction of NO3/PO4 and other harmful substances into your tank. Having said so, i'd suggest you can temporarily forget about RO/DI water. Get the fundamental stuff in place first. For instance, skimmer, lightings, husbandry skills etc. Quote >>
staromsa
Hey bros, no point advising this type of ppl. The way he speaks is just like a kid. He just whines and push the blame to others when being questioned here. Yes , its his choice for listening to whoevers advise. But , im sure he knows the actual cycle if the marine aquaria. His just stubborn and wants to do it his way. Like what bro Jameshong said, his philosophy is to " Aim and Achieve " Not to listen our advices. At the end of the day, its his money, we have no rights to hold him back. We have given him our last words of advices, The rest is up to him. Hope he wake up from his DREAMS and stop killing innocent fishes. Happy Reefing.. SRC Member woyeng** Posted August 15, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted August 15, 2013 I heard RO / DI needs carbon filtration to remove chlorine and trace chemicals followed by DI filter to purify the filteres water which I dunno what that is ? So best to invest in RO / DI filter or buy water from established sources

SRC Member Evolutionz Posted August 15, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted August 15, 2013 Ts refuse to heed advice.. When we tell him he need to cycle more I guess he refuse to listen so will go ahead to kill more fishes till his tank cycles finish.. I don't understand why some people want to waste their money and kill lives just because they can't wait to have fish.
