SRC Member Mike Tan Posted September 17, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted September 17, 2014 Hi all! I'm kinda new here in SG Reefclub as I live in the Philippines! I visit Singapore very often to get aquarium stuff Some background info on my reefing journey. I started way back around 2008 with a 75 galon tank with a crappy skimmer. My first serious tank was a 125 galon 5 feetx24"x22" tank that I managed to keep for 3 years. It finally got decommissioned because the corals almost all bleached away because of the heat. I didn't have a chiller then. I also had another small tank (40g) that time and the tank also got decommissioned after a year due to aiptisia infestation. Anyway, I just started my latest tank today. Just newly installed this faithful September 17, 2014 Superclear glass 3/8" glass tank with external overflow - custom made Duco finished all white cabinetry by Design and Reef Tank size is 36"x24"x18"high - glass is machine polished but will eventually fit a lid with nylon netting as a top to prevent jumping-suiciding fishes. Reef Octopus Skimmer xp2000 sss Lights is AI vega Teco tr-10 chiller Waves provided by wp-10 (for now) Rio hf17 return pump Saltmix Aquavitro The tank will have a refugium with chaeto beside it. Some livestock will be ported over from my current tank (which I haven't written about yet) Hope to meet new friends, get good suggestions and discussions about my tank! The sump is still being redone to be wider so I'll post the pic after the new sump is put in. 1 Quote White Reef White Reef pt.

SRC Member pcw Posted September 17, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted September 17, 2014 Nice. The set-up looks really neat. Are you going to keep corals and livestock endemic to your location? Especially since we always see shipments from the Philippines.

Are you going to keep corals and livestock endemic to your location? Especially since we always see shipments from the Philippines. I had tanks that have lots of livestock endemic here before, so now I'll add stuff from all around the world! My shopping list includes Ventralis Anthias pair, Heilfrichi, and other interesting small fishes! Endemic to Philippines I'll have a ruby red dragonet. Welcome on board. Just an observation.. you might need more wavemakers True, I plan to add either a Vortech MP10 or another WP-10. Would like to see the end product after you put the nylon net on! Cause thought of removing my hood, hahah. Have a great day! Will post the acrylic net hood once it's done! SRC Member Mike Tan Posted September 30, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 30, 2014 Thanks for kind replies! Here's an update, installed Vortech Mp-10, new Jebao DC return pump, Omega-1 reactor. Also updated the aquascape because I felt the rocks were too few for my planned fishes which will be anthias, flasher wrasses, blennies, gobies Quote White Reef White Reef pt.

SRC Member Mike Tan Posted October 11, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted October 11, 2014 Tank update: Tested nitrate at 0 and phospate at 0.5 on oct 7. Now will try to use seachem seagel on it t further reduce phospates. I put in 2 Tangaroa goby and they've been running around the bottome since last week! Also got some livestock that I will slowly acclimate to this tank. A lined dartfish. Apparently this fish is very very timid, shy and peaceful so have to hope my other planned fishes will not scare it into hiding. Also have to wait for my canopy/hood which will be completed (hopefully) by next week. Quote White Reef White Reef pt.
