How to buy 15k on equipment? Even though you can buy high end skimmer, chiller, pump, lights.... i still cant do the maths...... <_<

Maybe Mr. Ng is suffering from hallucination and thought that his tank is this:

$15K on Equipment:

$3k on Geissman MHs

$4k on IKS

$2k on Artica 1Hp Chiller

$2k for 2 x Red Dragon Pumps for return

$2k for Deltec Skimmer

$2k for Deltec Calcium Reactor

It is possible for more than $15k on equipment but the question is why only $600 on tank? and also all the equipment spoilt because of cracked tank?

:)

think the reason is obvious.... no need to say we all know ;)

probably when the tank crack, the water rush out like a big tsunami, raising at a height of 2 metres, drowing and destroying all equipment on the path lor

I suppose they used to live in the US where you can sue and be awarded US$1 million for being stung by a bee. In Spore, the law applied is English Law, so claims must be supported by calculation which must be reasonable. Emotional stress? I think we are all being stressed up by his claims, so can we ask Khattar Wong to take a class action on the plaintiff for collateral damage he caused us at sgreef? If successful, we all can afford an upgrade! :P

If someone would stinge on a tank costing S$600+, it would not make sense if the equipment is that expensive, sames goes to the livestock. Old furniture a little wet also must claim full amount, marble floor cannot get damaged so easily, give it a good polish it will be brand new. I suppose equipemnt must be his golf clubs (use old clubs at driving range and left expensive set at home) or Hi-Fi, water creeps up! His lawyers fees must also cost him a bomb, hoping to get a big law firm to claim big amount, at the end of the day the law firm is smiling!

Guys, if this case is successful, better place all you valuables and also junk (which used to be expensive albeit outdated and of no use) near your pumps and tank and slaughter chicken everyday and pray to to God the fish tank WILL crack and start to make a claim!.................but then all LFS will insist you read the disclaimer and limited liability clause before they sell you....so back to square one

Better learn fom the Medical Detectives, CSI series and become Marine detectives! :P

U know what guys, lets not start saying that its a ridiculous amount to claim based on what we know here, perhaps it is really true that there were expensive equipment, furniture in there that has been ruined by the tank breakage.

I dont see why all of us being marine hobbyists, should just jump to the defence of the tank makers. Sure it might be a huge amount and the customers probably didnt know better, but if the tank crack did cause a serious amount of damage, i would too claim for a justifiable amount of compensation, if i had paid for a tank that i had thought would not crack....

I also feel that even if the claim is not successful, it is perhaps a wake up call for companies to provide adequate information for their customers. The onus was on the company to perhaps find out about their customer intended purpose for the fish tank and advise accordingly. I dont think the customers should suffer if there is a lack of support from a company who is supposed to be the better of the two in terms of the technicalities in a sale? I tink not knowing that the tank cant take e weight of SW is not an impossibility for alot of people - we know that from the finding nemo craze... :P

Of cos $100k is an unreasonable amount to claim but i tink $20k is not too far from being reasonable...?

I still think $20k is far too much. If I can claim $20k, I will happily break my tank and set up a new one with that $20k.

Not sure whether Qianhu really advised the couple that the tank they sold them was suitable for marine use. My instinct is that the tank is bought off shelf and not custom made. And most tanks that are available off-shelf are not really suitable for marine use. Did the couple actually asked Qianhu if the tank was suitable for marine use? If they didn't ask.... how can the blame the company. If Qianhu did tell them that the tank is safe for marine usage... then I would think that Qianhu is at fault. But as most reefers as said, most likely they would pay the cost of the tank only.

Anyway, I don't see any reasons for us to defend the tank makers. If it's their fault, we will sure whack them. Just like Atlantis. But everyone can see clearly from the report that this couple just want to make a quick buck out of the situation.

to me... this couple are just trying to make some money out of the incident. of course i think they know they wont be able to get $100K from it. But they do know that there is high chance of getting some money out of it.

basically, if its the tank maker fault then its alrite to pay up but not that hugh amount. and im sure that the couple do have fault on the ways they set up their tank.

bet they just trying to blow things up via papers.

well... smart couple though. ;)

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

wow bro, u would happily break your own tank? I tink we are looking at this case in the most genuine of circumstances - that this is a tank that cracked by itself, and not because of foul play....

I would agree with Wedgee to a certain extent...I mean, thats like saying if u bot a car from ###### company, and that car had faulty brakes, ends up killing half a dozen people at an intersection and ###### company say they only pay for e car only? Or better still, just replace it with brakes (maybe can even put Brembo ones even!). Now thats ridiculous! :P

I think its probably due to the thinkness of the glass. If I am not wrong, Qi@n H& makes tanks for freshwater and this might be the cause of the crack and finally the tragedy. Anyway, the couple should do something when they noticed a crack but instead they chose not to do anything about it :(

20000 for compensation? Are they nuts or what? This really shows how kiasu Singaporeans are!! Even little thing like "emotional trauma" of losing a frogfish also have to compensate, and for equipments must compensate $15000!!!! Are they running on multiple Bubblekings and have a 3HP chiller? I am so ashamed to be a Singaporean :erm:
