Cause if I look at it closely I can see some luminous colour on it. So can you guys get me out of this curiousity box.

You bought a bleached specimen.

Suggested course of action: Feed the bleached 'prata' once every two days to keep it alive until the zooxanthellae grows back (it gives all corals the greenish or brownish colouration) and it can then photosynthesize enough food from light.

Suggested food: krill, silversides, shrimp, squid, cyclopeze chunks.

bleach coral means coral losing colours because its dumping its zooxanthallae

general causes:

1)wrong lighting - too much or too little

2)warm water - higher than 29

3)lousy water parameter.

some causes i experienced:

4)forget to feed coral for long period of time :pinch:

lots of info on corals bleaching not just in SRC but other forums and in websites that deal with conservation of coral reefs

prata shld be relatively easy..just ensure that water temp is not above 28degrees...

lighting must also be sufficient..HO T5s shld be sufficient for the coral to gain back its colour..my $0.02.. :D

my coral bleached becasue of the temp and lighting. some coral needs less light and some needs more light. so, you got to know what lighting it require. now it gains back it colour after i made sure the temp will not go beyond 28.5 and its placement ;)

another thing is i never feed any of my corals (lps) and they grow well :P (much bigger - headache <_< )

just share my personal experience

This is the fella. Before it was totally white. I'm doing what AT said. Now can see a bit brown and luminous.

I think I saw some very white and beautiful ones at the shop at Jalan Kayu few days ago. I must admit that it's really beautiful and I'm really not sure if it's bleached. Maybe those who are experienced can take a look over there and see if it's really white prata.
