My humble tank.

First in 2.5ft tank with chiller and canister for 1 yr plus

Then to 2ft tank with internal pump without chiller, temp went up to 31 recently due to hot weather. For 3 mths.

Finally to this 2ft ios tank with chiller. For as long as possible.

Running a chiller is definitely a better choice here in Singapore. Without a stable temp, your tank parameters will fluctuate badly which will be tedious to work on for long duration of time. Btw, beautiful scaping :) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Another 2ft ios! Sweet! :yahoo: Are those artificial corals on the left? Good scape, but i would remove the coral chips on the sandbed, its gonna build up detritus

Thank you everyone for your encouragement! hope this would be a success. :D

As this is my first time using IOS, I'm using the coral chips to block the bottom inlet to prevent sand from clogging. do not know if this is necessary, feel free to advise me! :D

Yes, the corals on the left are artificial corals, just put a plate of mushroom on top the green fake monti :P

heh.

Hmm, I am a little confused. Are you using a undergravel filter or overflow system? Why is your inlet at the bottom?

I'm using IOS, if you are referring to the cluster of coral chips at the left side corner, that's to prevent the sand from entering the bottom inlet of the ios wall. (Like IQ5 there is both top and bottom inlet)

If you are referring to the coral chips around the tank, I use them to increase PH in the past but can remove :))

Hope that helps to clear the confusion. Hee thank you! :D

You can keep some hermits and sand shifter starfish to help keep your sand bed clean.

Ooooh ok, I understand now, didnt know there was a bottom inlet as well. :chair:

Hee. :D I hope its not too big to manage nor too small to mess up parameter with.

Ohh. I have 2 hermits which keep patrolling on sand bed and rocks. Flipping some small rocks at times.

I also have 2 snails (forgot the name) which are 24/7 under the sand.

Haha, thats the challenge of a 2ft nano tank bro, keeping the parameters stable. Its not as easy as the bigger tanks. They test once a week, i test every other day of the week just caused i'm always so scared something goes out of place. It will happen so quickly. Sometimes i find myself being too paranoid, but i can't help it. lol.

Its going to be challenging indeed, but don't let mishaps disappoint you, its part and parcel of the learning curve. I'm sure you will do fine bro.

do you guys think I should get another wavemaker/pump to create more wave based on the corals I have? :D
the top one is alveopora/goniopora (newly added, have yet to identify)
if gonio, what is the flowrate I should be looking at?
if alveo, should I leave it as it is now?

currently the tank runs on 600l/hr pump, and my tank size is at 54litre /15 gallon.

thank you~ your knowledge will come in handy in my learning journey in this hobby :D

Why not remove the fake corals, over time it will be cover wif detribus & algae, will look ugly IMO.
