Agreed. Just because you are not allowed to have scuba equipment in that area does not mean that it is impossible to catch the fish. You just need to find a very good free diver who can dive without scuba gear.

hi peter. all these "moon" wrasses are also known as lunar wrasse. thalassoma Sp.

so calling it cortez lunar wrasse is same as cortez moon wrasse. fishes have many common names so the same fish can come with many different names.

the name cortez in thalassoma sp refers to only T. lucasanum. as long as u see cortez with lunar, or moon, it should be this fish. just like queen angel, queen, queen angelfish all means the same thing.

T. lunare is commonly called lunar wrasse only, or moon wrasse.

common names are very confusing, that's why its good to know some scientific names to avoid confusion between similarly named fishes.

ok off topic. this discussion can continue in reef fishes forum i love discussing interesting topics like this because there's so much to learn from each other. i did not know cortez wrasse was also known as cortez rainbow wrasse.
