5L of the cement remover was $10.50 at a neighborhood hardware shop.

For me, that was at Bukit Batok Street 23 industrial park area.

After a week+by the window, the rocks appear absolutely dry.

IMG_5822.jpg

Spent the weekend finishing up the plumbing & started on the controller.

  • Went for a soft hose for the main drain pipe for easier sock change.
  • Added supports for the pipe
  • Mounted the Apex Neptune

IMG_5867.jpg

The Apex Energy Bar are mounted on some wooden boards. Very ugly, so I covered it up with foam core media.

IMG_5869.jpg

A splash guard is probably needed for the power plugs as a precaution.

Probable rock scape :

IMG_5871.jpg

IMG_5872.jpg

I epoxied short bits of PVC pipes to create an area contact instead of point contact for the rocks.

Any comments on the rockscape? Open to suggestions for improvement.

For the rock scape, put the 2 islands further apart so there's a valley in between. Also, I was using the asme filter socks as you but it's too small, it gets clogged easily

Just trying to get a reference once i start my tank.

How many days before your filter sock clog? How many micron sock?

Any suggestions?

And I'll be using salt mix for cycling.

Probably start the cycle process in 2-3 weeks time. (out of the country next week)

Love your tidy sump.. so clean and neat

Thanks. Trying to be as neat as possible.

But I know its short lived. Once the power adapters for the various devices goes in....its back to a messy sump.

It was about 2-3 days max before it clog. I got mine from AM. I have since change to the 7 inches sock from Madpetz. Your cycling process will be shorter if u use sea water. Iwarna do sea water delivery

i'll be dosing bacteria to speed things up.

Yes, I got a pack of NPX bio pallets. Pending to get a media reactor.

OK...noted to run in at the same time as cycling.

AM Bio pellet reactor seems pretty good for the price.

I am using the China-made one from DE Aquatics, which works as well but you need a very strong pump.

may I ask how much flow should be in the china made FR? I am also using that type

Sorry Subzero, hope I am not hijacking your tank thread.

to answer the question, I am using the larger model of that FR and my flowrate is 1500 litres (using Deltec H20cean pump fyi).

I think an alternative is to put lesser Biopellets and top up more frequently or use a 2000 litres pump (perhaps an Aquabee). This will prob solve the problem.

No worries. These are all good information to know & share.

I was thinking perhaps a Jebao DC2000 (2000L/hr flow rate).

And since its DC (not AC), it has variable power output which can be easily tuned down via the controller.
